Hokusai
attributed to Hokusai, 1760-1849

sketches of women

five small sumi ink sketches of women in various positions, mounted on thick paper (likely from an album), ca. 1820's

15 1/8 by 11 1/4 in., 38.4 by 28.7 cm

While it is of course difficult to determine if sketches are by the hand of Hokusai himself or one of his students, these charming studies of women compare very closely with published examples attributed to Hokusai.
