This netsuke bears close comparison (in particular the treatment of the swirling locks of hair, the haunches and the double-incised toes) with the shishi signed Harutada, which appears as catalogue no. 146 in Eskenazi's Japanese Netsuke from the Carré Collection, London, June 1993
