signed Ichiyosai Toyokuni ga with artist's red Tama seal, with publisher's seal Kagayasu (Kagaya Yasubei), carver's seal Horiko Yoshi to, censor's seals Hama and Magome, and date seal Ne-kyu (year of the rat [1852], 9th month)

Ichikawa Ebizo V (Ichikawa Danjuro VII, 1791-1859) is in the beloved role of Musashibo Benkei from the Kanchincho (The Subscription List) staged along with the featured play, Ichinotani Futaba Gunki (The Chronicle of the Battle of Ichinotani) during the 9th month of 1852 at the Kawarazaki Theater.
