In 1960, Shoichi Shiraki gifted prints to the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Brooklyn Museum of Art in New York, where the recent acquisitions may have been on view. It is likely that this print was acquired by the Tsuruoka family directly from the artist around the same time. Shiraki went on to become one of the most recognized surrealist painters in Japan.
