Onoe Baiko VII as the Snake Spirit in Musume Dojoji (cropped version)

kappazuri (stencil print); initialed, dated and numbered in pencil, PB, 94, 17/20 (1994)

7 3/4 by 5 3/8 in., 19.7 by 13.7 cm

Binnie used the stencils from the 1994 fan print of the same subject while utilizing a smaller rectangular window to crop the size down to a postcard-scale format. This scarce print was not included in the artist's 2007 catalogue raisonné. The small edition of only twenty impressions was produced while he was living in Japan, likely as an intended gift for friends- hence the rarity of the design.
