Tsuruoka

attributed to Kakunen Tsuruoka

1892-1977

two figures on bridge (sketch)

ink and color on paper; unsigned, with oval Tsuruoka family seal on verso, n.d., ca. 1930s

12 5/8 by 4 in., 32.2 by 10.1 cm

Although this work is unsigned, it was found along with a large group of paintings by Kakunen in the collection of Haruno Tsuruoka, the artist's daughter-in-law. The subject and style of painting bears similarities to other paintings in the collection, but the lack of signature indicates that the artist likely did not consider it a finished work.

Provenance: Estate of Haruno Tsuruoka (daughter-in-law of Tokutaro 'Kakunen' Tsuruoka)

price: $ 500
