Frances Blakemore included Funasaka in her seminal round-up of contemporary Japanese print artists, Who's Who in Modern Japanese Prints (1975) with a quote from the artist on why he features lemons in his work: "I like the taste, I like the smell, I like the color--it represents freshness."
