oban tate-e 15 3/8 by 10 3/8 in., 39 by 26.2 cm

The subject of this print is the meditation hut belonging to the artist's most beloved patron, the heiress Mrs. Juliet Ector Orr Munsell (1865-1948). Were it not for the title (in Japanese) identifying the location in California, the composition could be easily mistaken for a classic shin-hanga depiction of a Japanese landscape.
