Scottish, b. 1967
signed in kanji at upper left corner, Bin-ni, followed by red artist's seal Binnie, the print title in hiragana, Matsutoki, in upper left margin, numbered and signed in pencil, 7/30, Paul Binnie, Jan 2009
chuban yoko-e 10 1/2 by 13 1/4 in., 26.7 by 33.5 cm
Although the blocks for this sosaku-hanga style jigsaw print were carved some time ago, the design was only recently issed in this small edition of just 30 impressions. While Binnie is typically quite forthcoming regarding technical details pertaining to the production of his prints, he often declines to elaborate on a subject beyond the title. True to form, Binnie has left interpretation of the subject, apparently a play on words, to the viewer.
