In this study for the Thousand Stitch Belt woodblock print from the Flowers of a Hundred Years series, most of the details of the composition are defined, including the model's hair pulled back into a low bun and the positioning of the needle in the right hand held upward as though she is ready to present it to someone to 'donate' a sacred stitch on the belt which she holds in front of her in her left hand.
