The Goat Trail, Black's Beach: Moonrise

with artist's silver seal, Binnie, titled on bottom margin, The Goat Trail, Black's Beach: Moonrise, and signed in pencil, Paul Binnie, from an edition of 100, 2021

16 1/4 by 12 in., 41.3 by 30.4 cm

This work is the second design in a series of day and night views of Black's Beach, near the artist's home in Southern California. In comparison to the first print of the series, which depicts a macro view of the steep steps that scale the rocky cliffs of the beach, here we see the full scope of the landscape. The size of the cliffs is made clear by the tiny speck of a figure (silhoetted by the moon) standing next to a sign at the very top warning visitors not to use the precarious path. A similar sign can be seen at the base of the cliffs at the end of the beach 350 feet below.
