This print is the sixth design in the artist's ongoing bijin series, A Collection of Eastern Brocade Beauties, which he began in 2005 with the release of the elaborately produced (and completely sold out) Butterfly Bow print that was illustrated on the cover of the 2007 exhibition catalogue, Paul Binnie: A Dialogue with the Past- The First 100 Japanese Prints. The form of this nude was also used for the 2010 print, Kiyonaga's Pipe, from the now completed series, A Hundred Shades of Ink of Edo, featuring tattoo designs based on the work of famous ukiyo-e artists.
